Assurances from Social Care Minister

by isleofman.com 27th August 2012

Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw says his department is doing all it can to recruit specialised nurses for its Elderly Mentally Infirm Units.

Staff shortages means the Gansey unit in Southlands has to close temporarily while its eight residents move to Thie Meanagh in Douglas.

Mr Robertshaw says trying to find suitably qualified people has been extremely difficult – but he’s vowing to reopen the unit as quickly as possible.

He says the department is working hard to find more nurses.
