Cumbria plans could bring Manx cruise boost

by isleofman.com 26th August 2012

A massive scheme in Whitehaven could give the Isle of Man a welcome boost when it comes to cruise ship visits.

The town is planning a ?1.1 million improvement project which would see an influx of cruise ships touring the Irish Sea.

Tourism bosses in Cumbria say they’d like to see more vessels carrying up to 1,000 passengers – which would tour Scotland, Ireland and the Isle of Man.

However, a dedicated landing terminal in the town could attract ships from Europe and other parts of the world to the Irish Sea – potentially boosting the number stopping at the Island.
