Wolfy and Webster down Rushen

by isleofman.com 25th August 2012

There was only one top flight game to survive the weather but what a game it was as Laxey edged out 2010 champions Rushen in a nine goal thriller.

A hat-trick from new signing Mark Wolfenden and an Ashley Webster double sealed a 5-4 victory for the Miners at Glen Road in the Canada Life Premier League.

In a see-saw game, the result remained on a knife edge as Rushen – who had opened the scoring via Michael Baker – replied through Furo Davies (two) and Mike Williams.

But Laxey held on to make it two wins out of two.

In JCK Division Two, Colby were 3-1 winners at Braddan, courtesy of goals from Oliver Swales, Adam Fretwell and James Collett.

Ramsey Youth Centre triumphed 4-0 at Foxdale, thanks to goals from Steven Grose (two), Mike Nixon and Greg Radcliffe.

Elsewhere, Steve McIntosh, Rob Byrne, Kraig Marsh and Andy Bunce were on target for Onchan in their 4-2 success at battling Douglas and District.

Pulrose defeated Ronaldsway 3-1 at home, while Malew were 2-1 winners at Douglas Athletic.
