Island GCSE students should be congratulated

by isleofman.com 24th August 2012

An Island teacher says Island GCSE students who have reaped the rewards of their hard work should be congratulated.

Despite the fourth best set of results for the Island, media focus over the last 24 hours has been on a drop in A*-C grades for the first time in the exam's history.

However, Andrew Shipley, spokesman for the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, says young people deserve much praise and he has distanced himself from claims the UK Education Secretary Michael Gove put pressure on exam boards to mark more harshly.
