Barclays Wealth and Investment Management is once again sponsoring the Isle of Man Student of the Year awards for 2012. Each year, students from the Island’s six secondary schools are put through their paces to identify the top all-round students from each school.
On an annual basis, the Island’s secondary schools nominate eligible candidates to be considered for the coveted award and to be recognised as the top all-round students from each school. Over the past three years, Barclays has aimed to make the competition more inclusive in line with its own focus on fostering diversity by involving more students and recognising the students’ achievements across a greater number of areas. Students are shortlisted into the following categories: Citizenship, the Arts, Academic, Sports and Endeavour. The shortlisted students from each school will be interviewed by a panel from Barclays to decide upon the overall winner for each of the five categories. Each of the 30 school category winners will attend a prestigious awards ceremony in November.
This year’s winners will be presented with vouchers worth £500 each and all shortlisted students will receive a £25 voucher.

The standard of entrants for these awards is consistently very high and I am looking forward to meeting the finalists in the autumn.’

It is so important that the achievements of young people who work hard and excel at their subjects are recognised and rewarded. Judging will, as always, be a very difficult task.’
