Reopening unit at Southlands 'top priority'

by isleofman.com 24th August 2012

The re-opening of the Gansey EMI Unit is a top priority.

So say social care bosses after it was announced the facility at Southlands will temporarily close next Tuesday.

All eight patients will be transferred to Thie Menagh, the elderly mentally infirm facility in Farmhill in Douglas, until more staff are recruited to allow the Gansey unit to re-open.

Cath Hayhow, assistant director for adult social services, says it’s not a decision that’s been taken lightly.
