MARS scheme welcomed by government and unions

A new scheme aimed at helping reduce civil service numbers is being welcomed by both government and the unions.

Chairman of the Civil Service Commission Alf Cannan MHK gave the thumbs up to the Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (MARS).

Angela Moffatt is secretary for the Government Officers Association.

She says those involved in the discussions have tried to come up with a system which works for both sides:
