Local provider of aircraft insurance, MAC Group would like to offer its congratulations to the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry on the addition of its 500th aircraft, describing it as an enormous milestone for the Isle of Man’s flourishing aviation sector. The aircraft, a Bombardier Global 5000, was delivered new from the factory in Montreal, Canada, last month despite the Aircraft Registry having only being operational since 2007. The achievement is reflective of both the entrepreneurial and innovatory drive that positions the Island amongst the world’s leading jurisdictions for asset management and provides an outstanding incentive to those wishing to do business with and within the Island.
Brian Kirkland, a leading Aviation Consultant with MAC Commercial and Professional Risks, commented on the development: “This is a tremendous achievement both for the Aircraft Registry and the Isle of Man as a whole. As Europe’s only dedicated corporate aircraft register, the Aircraft Registry is further testament to the Isle of Man’s growing reputation as a globally competitive centre for enterprise and to the tremendous capacity for the Island’s business community to confidently accommodate such a consistent influx of global clients.”
Mr Kirkland continued: “The diversification of the Island’s economic base is vital to sustaining our relatively privileged economic status and I believe that, certainly amongst the domestic aviation industry, there is a shared objective in its pursuit. The corporate aviation industry is somewhat unique in both the variety and range of its complementary industries and the manner in which the industry’s economic benefits percolate throughout the local economy. Areas such as manufacturing, financing, administration, ownership structuring, support services and bespoke aviation insurance frameworks, all contribute towards the Islands economy, its employment base and of course global status. As a member of the Island’s business community, I believe that reaching this milestone is an invaluable contribution towards making the Isle of Man one of the world’s premier centres for enterprise.”
