by isleofman.com 20th August 2012

Some major roadworks in the south of the Island get underway today (Mon 20th)

Road re-surfacing work is taking place in Port St Mary.

There will be a daily road closure from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, on Station Road, Port St Mary, from the junction of Plantation Road and Beach Road to Four Roads roundabout.

The diversion is along Castletown Road via Shore Road, Gansey.

A pedestrian refuge at the junction with Castletown Road and Shore Road has been removed to accommodate buses which will divert via this route. The work is expected to take a maximum of 11 days.

Meanwhile a three-week long road improvement scheme is getting underway on Alexandra Road in Castletown this morning.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place while drainage work is carried out, then from 3rd of September re-surfacing works will be carried out during evening road closures.

They'll be in operation from Monday to Friday, 4.30pm to midnight, between Alexandra Bridge and Malew Road.
