Plea for more marshals

by isleofman.com 20th August 2012

After Saturday night's practice session had to be reduced to just one controlled speed lap another plea has gone out for more marshals to register.

A severe shortage of marshals meant it was impossible for Saturday evening's general practice session to go ahead despite good weather conditions.

There were 23 fewer than required, 19 of which were in positions on the mountain.

It was a major frustration for organisers after frantic work had taken place during the day to repair the road surface at Keppel Gate which had been badly damaged in Friday's floods.

The plea for marshals has been echoed by Clerk of the course Phil Taubman who says with a fair weather forecast for the first part of the week it's "imperative" that tonight's session goes ahead on time.

If you would like to marshal you can call in at the Marshal Association's office at the rear of the Grandstand or ring 61 81 91. Roads will close at 6 o'clock for a 6.20pm start.

Speaking after the session on Manx Radio TT 365 Chairman of the TT Marshals' Association Terry Holmes says whilst tonight's practice session is looking better, more marshals are still needed . .
