Agreement on structure for civil service reduction

Unions and the Government have reached agreement over a structure that would enable a reduction in civil service staff numbers.

The "MARS", or Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme, will support and facilitate a reduction in numbers.

But Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Alf Cannan MHK, says there will always need to be a well researched reason before ANY any reductions are made...
