Flooding on Island's roads

The Department of Infrastructure says it has mobilised "substantial resources" to deal with flooding around the Island and on the Mountain.

It follows yet more heavy rain across the Island this morning.

The Mountain Road and Lhoobs Road in Foxdale remain closed. There are large amounts of debris on the Mountain Road which is currently being cleared and the edges of the road are being protected.

Some roads have lifted under the pressure of ground water but it's though these will settle back but teams are on standby if any damage is sustained.

Earlier today the Steam Train service from Douglas to Port Erin was suspended due to flooding but the service is resuming this afternoon (from 2pm)

Whilst more rain is forecast the department believes the worst of the flooding is over
