Wasps Legends Rugby team to visit Island

Wooden Spoon Isle of Man are delighted to announce that from Friday 7th September until Sunday 9th September the Wasps Legends Rugby team will be coming to the Island to play a match against an Isle of Man Select XV.

 

Among the Wasps Legends are many British Lions and International players including such household names as Andy Gomarsall, Damian Cronin, Fraser Waters, Shane Roiser, Andy Reed and Serge Betsen.

 

On Friday 7th September in the evening there will be a Black tie Dinner at the Palace Hotel where the speakers will be Roger Uttley, Andy Gomarsall and Peter Scrivener. The Legends will be attending the dinner and there will be one on each of the tables.  On the Saturday morning at the National Sports Centre there will be the chance for mini/junior rugby players to attend a training and coaching session run by the Wasps Legend players.  In the afternoon, again at the National Sports Centre, the matches kick off with a select Island Ladies XV playing Wasps Ladies (a side including many international players) the Wasps Legends XV will then play against the Isle of Man Select XV.  There will be ample chance for people to meet the Legends and have pictures taken and obtain autographs.

 

Admission to the National Sports Centre for the day will be by purchase of a programme which will include a raffle to be drawn at the end of the match.

 

The whole day is planned to be a fun day out for all the family with all funds raised throughout the weekend going towards Wooden Spoon Isle of Man. There will be fun events and stalls, food and drink outlets running through the day.

 

Wooden Spoon is a rugby based charity which organises fundraising initiatives to raise money to improve the quality and prospect of life for children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially. All funds raised on the Isle of Man stay on the Island.
