Drugs scam targets local businesses

by isleofman.com 7th August 2012

Businesses in the Isle of Man are being targeted by telephone scammers claiming to represent a drug and alcohol company.

The caller poses as a member of staff seeking sponsorship for an advisory booklet.

The Drug and Alcohol team, Alcohol Advisory Services and the Drug Advice Service and Helpline have all confirmed that this caller is not representing their organisations.

Police are urging members of the business community to be vigilant following this telephone scam.

Anyone who receives a call asking for money or personal details is asked to think carefully before sending cash or disclosing any information.
