Minister hopeful over MGP changes

The revised Manx Grand Prix schedule for 2013 should be seen as the start of a new beginning, according to the economic development minister.

John Shimmin was speaking after the compromise format was announced at the end of last week.

The Department of Economic Development had wanted to re-name the whole event using the TT brand, shorten it, and focus on classic bike racing.

But opposition from within the Island's motorcycling community and beyond has led to less changes being made for 2013.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin says he hopes all interested parties are happy with the new plan:
