Latest inflation figures comforting says Minister

by isleofman.com 6th August 2012

The continuing fall in inflation figures is "comforting" according to the Isle of Man's Treasury Minister.

Last month it stood at 2.2 per cent, compared with a peak of nearly 7 per cent this time last year.

The decline is largely down to reductions in energy and petrol prices, but there have been significant falls in clothing and leisure goods and services as well.

Eddie Teare says it means the pressure on the consumers through rising prices is starting to moderate.

However, because things like oil prices are so volatile Mr Teare does not expect energy costs to carry on falling.
