Planning shakeup needed - MHK

by isleofman.com 6th August 2012

Onchan MHK David Quirk says people shouldn’t shy away from checking if local building projects have planning permission.

At the last sitting of Tynwald before the summer recess he asked a question about the number of retrospective planning applications submitted to the Department of Infrastructure – only to learn the figure has remained almost unchanged for the last two years.

He says people who build first and apply for permission later should be penalised for the unauthorised work.

And he says neighbours can perform an invaluable role when it comes to spotting such building sites.
