MMCC chairman happy with MGP compromise

The chairman of the Manx Motor Cycle Club has welcomed the compromise deal which has been struck over next year's Manx Grand Prix schedule.

Originally, the Department of Economic Development wanted to re-name the whole event using the TT brand, shorten it to ten days and make classic bike racing the main feature.

But widespread opposition to the move has led to a further rethink for the 2013 MGP.

It will remain a two-week long event with a week of practice and qualifying first.

The middle weekend - August Bank Holiday - will feature a three-day classic meeting, including a new Classic TT, but the following Wednesday and Friday will see Manx Grand Prix races scheduled.
