Fraud warning

by isleofman.com 28th July 2012

Police are warning the Manx public to be on their guard after fraudsters took thousands of pounds from an Island resident.

They were targeted by conmen who said they’d won a Jamaican lottery – but wanted money to pay taxes before handing over the prize money.

Officers say those responsible kept the victim paying for three years.

The Financial Crime Unit says people should be wary of any unsolicited email, letter or phone call offering something for nothing.
