Ramsey Group Practice has received an impressive wall hanging which was created by talented people attending classes at the Isle of Man Prison’s Education Department and commissioned for the new Jurby Health and Community Centre.
The Jurby Health and Community Centre has been welcoming patients and service-users since the keys were handed over to the Department of Health in January 2012. The Ramsey Group Practice holds GP surgeries each weekday morning at the new site, as well as providing surgeries in Ramsey and Kirk Michael. The eight doctors also provide healthcare services to the Isle of Man Prison, and Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital. In addition the health visiting service provides a child health clinic and appointments for children’s health assessments and the district nursing service runs a treatment room for their patients in Jurby and the surrounding area
Dr Graham Wilson, Senior Partner at Ramsey Group Practice said: “It is a privilege to be able to accept this brilliant piece of art on behalf of the practice and people of Jurby. The talent which has been shown in this piece is magnificent and I thank them for thinking of us and contributing to the community. This will undoubtedly raise the spirits of our patients and add a little touch of class and character to our already beautiful surroundings.”
Practice Manager, Mandy Kelly was delighted to receive the fine work of art commenting: “I am grateful that this wall hanging is going to be displayed at Jurby. We have a close working relationship with the Prison management and I would like to personally thank those responsible for their contribution and let them to know that we will be displaying this with pride.”
The wall hanging will be displayed at the front entrance of the new Jurby Community Health Centre for the public to see.
