A well-known former headmaster on the Island has died.

Ian Masterton passed away in Bury earlier today (Thurs 24th)

He was headteacher at Ballakermeen High School from 1985 until 2001 when he retired and left the Island.

Mr Masterton established Ballakermeen as a High School after its years as a Junior High.

He continued a lifetime's involvement in education by taking a role as a school governor after moving back to the North West.

He also pursued his long-time passion for photography.
