Mannifest: Fun for all the Family

by isleofman.com 23rd July 2012

Mannifest Live Ltd are pleased to announced that ALL children’s activities provided by the festival organisers throughout the weekend will now be FREE of charge.  This includes a whole array of fabulous activities to keep children entertained throughout the weekend. For under 13’s entry is free (if accompanied by an adult) so this makes Mannifest even better than ever before.

In addition to the creative fun workshops, cabaret  and theatre provided by The Play People, and Sue Quilliam’s amazing arts and crafts corner, there will also be a nightly children’s disco 6.30-8.30pm to keep little ones entertained. We also have Zorbs, Bouncy Castles, a Foam Cannon (bring a change of clothes & shoes)  and a whole array of fun to be had with the Children’s Centre Out to Play set up and Krafty Kids.

Mannifest is a family friendly festival and we understand that children want to just play and have fun without parents having to dig into their pockets every ten minutes when their little one wants to go on a ride, again, and again, and again, as is the enthusiasm of a young child!  We delight in seeing happy smiling faces and want the next generation to experience a sense of abundance at Mannifest. In this current economic climate that’s a message we certainly want to inspire in our young.

Over the weekend we will also host the Mannifest Olympics – inspired by the creative minds of the Play People…. we’re looking forward to some old school fun such as egg and spoon…or wheelbarrow races.

There will also be a Fairy tale (or superhero) themed fancy dress parade on Saturday at 2pm, guided by the Samba band (Sambamann) who are leading the walkabout the site.  So feel free to dress up as any character from your favourite story. This is for ALL ages…so far we’ve heard whispers of wizard of Oz, Little Red Riding Hood, the Hare and the Tortoise… so it’s time to dig out those old classics (or get online) and let your imagination run wild.  Many people simply just enjoy dressing up for the festival so be prepared to see some amazing sights.  With the arrival of the band ‘ The Gentleman’s Musical Emporium’ their friend Chris Flood suggests we don our top hats we make the Friday ‘Gentleman’s Day’… or could that be the Mad Hatter…

Talking of Mad Hatters in the mind body Spirit area we have Alice in Wonderland hosting her EFTea Parties, where children can learn through storytelling how to process their emotions using the transformative emotional freedom technique.  Jude Mazilli will be launching her Kids EFT business in her Alice in wonderland themed Tipi.  Join her  for a tea party and be prepared to be entertained.

Heidi Danaher will once again be providing Family Yoga again at the festival.  Children will learn yoga postures breathing and relaxation through fun adventures and games.  And there’s rumour of a flash mob yoga too so watch out around the site.

Northern lights Community Centre will be hosting a range of workshops throughout the day and will also have a chill out area for mums to feed babies and relax.

Aaron Meli from Slappingskins.co.uk will be providing drumming and didgeridoo workshops in the arts and crafts area and children are also encouraged to assist in wood carving with Gavin Carter.

Mannifest have increased security measures by hiring ESS security who manage large UK festivals such as the Reading festival. This means the Family area camping will be fully secure and the ESS site HQ will be positioned right next to the family camping area for added peace of mind.

So you see Mannifest isn’t all just about the music, although this year we have an amazing line up of talented local acts in addition to the visiting bands, its about creating a welcoming space for all to enjoy, its about community and building a sustainable and welcoming festival for people to come together and share.
