Ramsey are the new leaders of the Standard Bank Cain League after beating Peel in a cliffhanger finish at Mullen-e-Cloie yesterday.

The northerners scored 152 for 8 from their twenty overs with skipper Ollie Webster hitting 60 and Tom Howard 50.

There were two wickets each for Phil Littlejohns and Colin Gilbert.

Littlejohns led the Peel reply with a dashing 51 and Daniel Dickinson cracked 35.

As the last over started, they needed 17 for victory.

In an exciting climax they scored 13, to fall just short of their target.

Cronkbourne turned in a good display to defeat Castletown.

The Douglas team slumped from 57 for 0 to 78 for 5, before ending on 129.

Garreth Roome was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 23.

Gareth Morris smashed 38 for the Town before being run out, Ben Bennett made 23 and Mark Williams 18, but tight bowling from Cronkbourne restricted Castletown to 111 for an 18-run victory.

At Tromode Crosby bowled out Valkyres for 96 despite a brave 47 from Paul Fleming.

The Marown side then got the runs for the loss of four wickets – Martin Oates led the way with 27 not out.

At the half-way stage in the Cain League, Ramsey have seven points, Castletown and Cronkbourne have aix points while Peel and Crosby are on five points.
