Policy debate welcomed by authority chairman

Benefits and social housing are among the biggest concerns for local authorities, according to the chairman of Braddan Commissioners.

Margaret Hodge says she fully supports the national debate on social policy launched by the Department of Social Care.

Minister Chris Robertshaw last week announced plans to radically shift the Island's universal benefits system as the only alternative to raising taxes.

Mrs Hodge admits it's a tough time to propose the changes:
