Culling not the answer to pigeon problem

The chairman of the Manx Ornitholigical Society says culling pigeons on the Island won’t work as a control measure.

Richard Selman was speaking after the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture issued new advice to local authorities on how to deal with the pests.

DEFA made a number of suggestions – chiefly to encourage people not to feed the pests, which damage buildings.

Mr Selman says killing off the birds simply wouldn’t work:
