Mart plans mark end of an era

by isleofman.com 19th July 2012

The end of an era.

That's the view of farmer, Manx Radio presenter and local Commissioner John Kennaugh as plans are put in to develop the site of the old Farmers Arms Pub and the Old Mart at St Johns for housing.

The pub closed several years ago and has been lying derelict and the mart is now in new premises.

John has lived and farmed around St Johns all his life and says whilst it's always sad to see iconic buildings go, the demolition of the old pub is long overdue and residential use is no bad thing.
