A developer is applying to change planning conditions on a proposed estate of more than a hundred homes in Peel.
Heritage Homes was granted permission for the scheme in December last year, subject to a number of conditions.
One was that all of the roads for the entire development – just off the Poortown Road - should be in place before the first house is finished.
But the company says for such a large scheme, that doesn’t make sense.
In the planning application, Heritage Homes’ planning director David Humphrey says the usual way of putting together such a development would be to build the roads as the houses are constructed.
He says completing the entire network first would mean putting roads in where access isn’t needed.
Instead, he says the condition should specify that houses can’t be occupied until they’re connected to a public highway.
Because the Department of Infrastructure has an interest in the application, it will be considered by the Council of Ministers rather than the planning authority.
