MHK opposes raising bus speed limit

by isleofman.com 17th July 2012

Raising the speed limit for buses in the Isle of Man would be too dangerous.

That is according to Ramsey MHK Leonard Singer in response to plans by highway chiefs to trial a new maximum limit for some bus journeys.

Allowing single deckers on some routes, including the Mountain Road, to travel at 50 mph instead of 40 mph is intended to make other vehicles less likely to overtake.

But Mr Singer believes they will still overtake - they will just be going faster.

He is vowing to tackle the new Leisure Minister about scrapping the idea.
