The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) has appointed Mainstream Marketing & Communications (MM&C) to raise the profile of the organisation. The CGA is responsible for the publicity, fundraising, travel and support for Team Isle of Man’s participation at the Commonwealth Games and is currently raising funds for the 2014 Games in Glasgow and the 2018 Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Juliet Holt, Isle of Man CGA President, said: “The Commonwealth Games is the highest sporting stage on which competitors can represent the Isle of Man, but it can also provide a stepping stone towards the Olympic Games and professional careers in sport. In order to give all of our talented sportsmen and sportswomen the opportunity to fulfil their potential it’s vital they have the chance to compete at Commonwealth level. However, this depends on raising funds, and in the current economic climate it’s becoming more and more difficult. This is why we have decided to seek expert help from MM&C to raise the profile of the CGA and Team Isle of Man and promote the true benefits that official partners can gain from being associated with the national team.”
Craig Wolstencroft, MM&C Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the Commonwealth Games Association and look forward to promoting the work that it does. The Isle of Man has a rich sporting heritage and seeing our athletes compete at the Commonwealth Games is a source of great pride not just amongst sports fans but across the whole community. Using our professionalism and experience we aim to raise awareness of the crucial role that the CGA plays and, in turn, make the CGA and Team Isle of Man an even more attractive proposition for official partners to show that they are proud to support our national team.”
