MHK criticises bus speed trial

Plans to trial a new maximum speed limit on buses have been branded a ‘nonsense’ by an MHK.

Highways chiefs last month revealed plans to trial a new 50 miles per hour limit with single deckers on six routes, including the Mountain Road, although they insist safety is key.

However, Ramsey member Leonard Singer says allowing buses to travel faster on arguably the Island’s most dangerous stretch of road is madness.
