Chief Minister explains ministerial decision

by isleofman.com 13th July 2012

The Chief Minister says he felt it was appropriate to bring a politican with ministerial experience into education to 'calm things down' and re-assure parents and students that the department was in good hands.

Allan Bell was speaking after last night's (Thursday) appointment of Peel MHK Tim Crookall into the Department of Education and Children.

In what was a mini reshuffle, Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen was brought in to the Council of Ministers for the first time to replace Mr Crookall in Community, Culture and Leisure.

Mr Bell says he appreciates there's been a delay between Mr Karran's departure from Education and the appointment of Mr Crookall, but he wanted to be sure he'd made the right decision.
