Birchalls sidecar champions at Southern 100

The Birchall brothers are sidecar champions of the Southern 100.

Ben and Tom Birchall cruised to victory with a safe margin of more than seven seconds, ahead of second-placed Ian and Carl Bell , with Greg Lambert and Dickie Gale making up the podium in third place.

Their time over 8 laps: 21 minutes 8.738 seconds - a triumph for the Birchall pair, newcomers to the circuit.

Mid way through the race Tim Reeves and Dan Sayle retired near the Stadium.

Speaking after the victory Tom Birchall was delighted with the contest on the road - and the final result!

Third-placed driver Greg Lambert was thrilled with his showing and paid tribute to his passenger local man Dickie Gale who lives virtually on the course in Ballabeg:
