Investigation after fire in Douglas

by isleofman.com 11th July 2012

An investigation is underway after a fire in Douglas last night (Tues 10th)

The incident happened at a ground floor flat on Sycamore Grove and was attended by two fire engines from Douglas station. Fire officers used breathing apparatus, thermal imaging cameras and Carbon dioxide extinguisher to deal with the blaze.

Fortunately, a smoke alarm in the hall alerted the occupant of the flat and they were able to escape without injury.

However, the flat was heavily smoke-logged and unsuitable for use and the occupier had to move in with a neighbour.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Service and the Manx Electricity Authority.
