Dunlop Shatters Billown Lap Record

by isleofman.com 11th July 2012

There are four more races at the Southern 100 meeting this evening after a record-breaking opening to racing last night.

Reigning solo champion Michael Dunlop shattered the absolute lap record for the Billown Circuit in winning the first race and newcomer Tim Reeves with experienced passenger Dan Sayle took the sidecar honours.

Dunlop set a new standard of 112.589mph on lap 4 and was surprised just how quick he had gone to finish ahead of Guy Martin and Ramsey rider Conor Cummins:-

Roads around the Billown Circuit will close at 6.05pm this evening and will re-open no later than 9.40pm.
