Council looks into Bee Gees honour

Douglas Borough Council is looking into ways of acknowledging the Bee Gees as Manxmen, and freemen of the borough.

The suggestion has come from a member of the public, following the recent death of Robin Gibb, leaving Barry as the sole surviving member of the world famous trio.

The pair, along with Robin's late twin Maurice, were awarded the freedom of the borough of Douglas three years ago to the day, July 10 2009.

Council Leader David Christian says talks over how to mark their achievements have just begun, but he very much hopes something can be sorted out:
