Success for Local Artist

The painting by Colby artist Jeremy Paul –‘African Jacana’ has won the ‘World Birds’ category of the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2012.
 
This is the third year in a row that Jeremy has won one of these prestigious awards. Last year he won the ‘Frozen Planet ‘ category with a painting of an Albatross and in 2010 he won the British mammals category with a painting of an otter.


The competition is run by the BBC Wildlife magazine (it also runs the popular BBC wildlife photography competition) and is open to entries world-wide.


They received over 1300 entries - of which about 100 were chosen for final judging - Presentations and an exhibition of the winning paintings from each category will take place at Rookesbury Park Manor in Hampshire in September. The winning paintings will also be published in the August issue of the magazine.
