Educational charity Mooinjer Veggey will be operating five of the Island’s pre-school facilities from September and are offering taster sessions for interested parents and carers.
Mooinjer Veggey has been running nurseries at Ashley Hill and Willaston since 2001 and following the privatisation of pre-school facilities will now also be operating at Ballacottier, Ballasalla and Manor Park.
Established in 1996, the charity exists to promote the use of Manx Gaelic to children from early years upwards. Its main focus is to provide quality nursery classes where children can also learn some of the Manx language. Mooinjer Veggey is committed to providing good pre-school practice and each nursery has qualified nursery nurses and a shared advising teacher who follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. The EYFS encourages play as an integral part of learning and all activities are planned to develop learning with children being able to initiate their own activities.
As well as gently introducing the Manx language to children, Mooinjer Veggey also provides access to opportunities for physical development, creativity and the use of computers and technology. It is hoped that this will help the children with their transition into reception classes and primary education.
There are no catchment area restrictions in place at Mooinjer Veggey nurseries so you can choose a location that suits your individual needs, whether that’s a nursery close to your place of work or the home of a relative or friend. Being a not-for-profit organisation also means that fees are kept as low as possible, with sessions starting from £11.
