Archibald Knox Scholarship awarded

The winner of the first Archibald Knox Scholarship for Art and Design has been announced.

He's Sam Hurt, a former pupil of QE2 High School in Peel, currently studying fine art at the Isle of Man College.

The award has been made by the Archibald Knox Society with funding from the Isle of Man Arts Council and the scholarship is a travel bursary to allow a student of outstanding talent to further their studies off Island for up to four years.

Sam was presented with the award by President of Tynwald Claire Christian, Chairman of the Arts Council Laurence Skelly and Liam O'Neill, chairman of the Archibald Knox Society.

He will now go on to study Fine Art at the University of Northumbria.
