Govt pledges ?50,000 to Yemen

The Manx government has donated ?50,000 to provide emergency relief overseas.

Yemen is the poorest nation in the Middle East and is in a current food crisis.

The Island's Overseas Aid Committee has given ?50,000 to Oxfam to help over 70,000 Yemeni people.

The money will go towards providing cash transfers and improving access to clean, safe water.

Chairman of the committee, Phil Gawne MHK, says the nation's in absolute poverty and the Isle of Man's contribution will improve the lives of many.
