Extra Anglesey Heritage Day Trip with Manx2.com

by isleofman.com 29th June 2012

Hot on the heels of the first sold-out visit to Anglesey by the Friends of Manx National Heritage (FMNH), a second trip took place on Tuesday (26 June).

A private charter flight carrying 19 FMNH members, arranged by Manx2.com – a corporate member of FMNH - departed the Isle of Man first thing in the morning for RAF Valley airport, where the group was accompanied around a range of popular heritage sites by an expert Blue Badge Guide.

Following the signing of a reciprocal agreement between FMNH and Cadw (the Welsh Government’s environment service) at the end of 2011, Friends of Manx National Heritage resident in the Isle of Man are able to use their membership cards at any of Cadw’s historic sites throughout Wales, and likewise, Cadw members can use their cards at Manx National Heritage sites.

Nicola Pemberton, Development & Administration Officer for FMNH, said: “We were overwhelmed by the response of our members to the first day trip to Anglesey, which sold out in less than 24 hours and the second was just as popular.  Hopefully we’ll have further visits to look forward to in the future.”

Manx2.com Managing Director, David Buck said: “Now the arrangement with Cadw and Friends of Manx National Heritage is established, it means members can access historic and cultural sites in both countries – and this will hopefully encourage more people to explore the two Islands. In addition to the FMNH trips to Anglesey, we’re also working with Cadw with a view to arranging similar inbound trips to the Isle of Man for their members.

“We are delighted to be able to continue our support for FMNH through renewing our corporate membership – there’s no doubt the Isle of Man’s rich heritage is a key attraction to potential visitors and support is crucial.”

“We and admire the work that Manx National Heritage does for our Island and we believe this arrangement with Cadw will mutually benefit all parties involved.”

Mr Buck continued: “Our summer season of flights between Anglesey and the Isle of Man proved very popular last year.  The schedule – with return flights on Monday and Fridays - is designed to suit those looking for relaxed weekend breaks and longer holidays.”
