Following the recent heavy rain a number of new pot holes have developed and the Department would like to remind people about the online website ‘Report a Problem’, which will allows the public to easily report common everyday defects and highway related problems to the Department. Once the report is submitted it will be sent directly to the team responsible for corrective action.
Members of the public are also reminded that the Department recently developed a SMART phone App for the Android and Apple phones, which allows users to report a problem on the move.
Our main aim of this project has been to keep it simple and easy to operate, so we only ask three questions :-
• Type of defect – Select one of the following reports
Graffiti, Vandalism, Traffic Lights, Pothole, Broken Water Main, Faulty Road Sign, Unlicensed Vehicle, Empty Salt Bin, Footway Defect, Blocked Gulley, Fly Tipping and Litter, Rogue Cones, Signs and Equipment, Street light fault, Surface defect and Abandoned Vehicles.
• Location – Use the map to locate and mark the problem (your phone may help do this automatically).
• Picture – If you have a picture, or can use your phone to take a photo of the problem, please attach it
As with any problem, the more information we receive the better, as it will allow us to prioritise and send the most appropriate team to resolve the problem.
The site can be found at www.reportaproblem.im which contains the links to the SMART phone applications.
This site has been designed to capture routine defects. Any urgent defects should always be reported direct to the Department’s Control Room on 672000 (24 hours).
Potholes can also still be reported at potholes@gov.im or by calling 686665 during office hours as this is the Highways defect reporting line.
