'Laziness' a factor in poor election turnout

Laziness is partly to blame for the low turnout in last Thursday’s Douglas Council by-election.

So says the leader of the Council, David Christian.

He was speaking after the Athol Ward contest, in which businesswoman Karen Angela topped the poll, attracted a turnout of just 10.3 per cent - the lowest in recent memory.
