Parish Walk is go

by isleofman.com 23rd June 2012

The biggest walking race in the Isle of Man's sporting calendar is underway.

The Manx Telecom Parish Walk started just after 8am.

There was a record entry for the event, and the early indications are that the downpours of the last 24 hours have not put too many people off.

There were initial concerns about an early part of the course with reports of flooding on the TT Access road.

Organisers were going to change the route, taking walkers along the main road to Braddan instead, but the surface water receded enough to allow participants to stick with the original plan.

After the first lap of the NSC, it was Robbie Callister who was leading the way, but it is expected that this could be one of the most open races for many years.
