Island crackdown on methoxetamine drug

Another drug, which had been legal on the Island, is to be banned.

Methoxetamine, known as 'Mexxy', is a tweaked version of ketamine.

Tynwald this week voted to outlaw the substance, with the ban coming into effect on July 1

It will only be temporary to start with, as the government awaits the outcome of an investigation into the substance.

Shelly Stanley of the Drug Advice Service and Helpline says what a drug is supposed to be, and what it actually is, can be very different, even if it is a so-called 'legal high':
