Chief Minister: Lib Van policy forced change of heart

More details are emerging about this morning’s sacking of Education Minister Peter Karran after he voted against his ministerial colleagues yesterday.

At a press conference at lunchtime, Chief Minister Allan Bell revealed Mr Karran had supported buying a stake in Pinewood Shepperton studios when the Council of Ministers discussed it on Thursday.

But Mr Bell says a meeting of the Liberal Vannin party on Friday objected to the scheme and told Mr Karran to change his vote.

The Chief Minister says Mr Karran did inform him of the change of heart before yesterday’s debate:
