Crossroads Care needs your vote

by isleofman.com 20th June 2012

Crossroads Care has been shortlisted for Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund Programme and needs the public to vote online for the chance to receive £5,000 to support young people in our community.

Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund is a new fund aimed at supporting organisations that help unlock the potential of young people. Four organisations from the Isle of Man have been shortlisted. The two organisations to generate the most votes during the public voting campaign will receive £5,000.

Crossroads Care would use the £5,000 award to fund Crossroads Community Venture, a social enterprise for young adults with learning difficulties. Crossroads Community Venture provides young people with work based training with a view to them accessing gainful employment. Crossroads Community Venture provides a further period of training, regular access to a working environment and support in the work place until trainees can hold a position in line with their peers.

Crossroads Community Venture also provides in house employment with jobs such as landscape gardening, ironing, cleaning, sales and administration. The scheme enables young people with learning difficulties to become more independent allowing their parent carers to go to work.

Gill Corkill of Lloyds Banking Group nominated Crossroads Care. Gill said: “I have been aware for many years the great work that the charity undertakes across the Island and the number of families that benefit from the high quality support and services they offer.  I would encourage everyone to submit their vote today to this very worthy cause, it will be such a boost for the charity to win £5,000 from the Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund and to have the opportunity to invest it back into the our Island”.
