Entries now open for the Royal London 360° Viking Longboat World Championship 2012

Entries are now open for this year’s Viking Longboat World Championships, in association with Royal London 360° and Manx Radio. This year’s event, which is its 49th year, will take place in Peel on Saturday 21 July. 


There are three categories – male, female and mixed – and entries are strictly on a first come, first served basis due to there being a maximum of 70 teams permitted.


Entry costs £100 per team; each team must commit to two practice sessions prior to the event which begin on Monday 9 July.  


Prizes


The winning team in each category receives £500 for the Manx charity of their choice, the runner-up £250 and the third-placed team £150, with prize money being provided by Royal London 360°. The competition rules stipulate that only Manx charities will benefit from this. 


There are further prize classifications and trophies, including for:


• Insurance company
• Bank
• Young Farmers
• Fancy Dress
• Shipping
