The Celton Manx sponsored Isle of Man senior men’s football team will be taking part in the inaugural International Challenge Shield tournament in Gibraltar at the end of the month.
The competition, which is contested with Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar, kicks off on the 28th June with games between the IOM team and the hosts Gibraltar and Jersey vs Guernsey. The Manx team will fly out to Gibraltar on the 27th June with the support of sponsors Celton Manx.
Celton Manx, operator of global sportsbook SBOBET, was set up in the Isle of Man over three years ago by egaming stalwart Bill Mummery. The company is fully licensed in the Island and operates from its bespoke global headquarters in Douglas.
Executive Director, Bill Mummery said: ‘It is a very exciting time for our national football team as they embark on their next tournament in Gibraltar. As a company we are proud to be headquartered and licensed in one of the leading global jurisdictions for our industry. In turn we are proud to support our national team as they represent us in Gibraltar. I wish them the very best of luck.’
The final of the tournament will take place on the 30th June at the Victoria Stadium.
Frank Stennett, IOM FA CEO commented: ‘The International Challenge Shield tournament comes at an ideal time for the IOM senior men’s representative team. After their tremendous run, and the ultimate major heartache in the FA Inter League Cup final against Jersey, it is the perfect opportunity to start afresh and build for the future. This is a really creditable tournament facilitated by the FA and I am sure all the players and the management team will be looking to bring the shield back to the Isle of Man. Once again we are indebted to Celton Manx for its support and ongoing sponsorship of the Island senior men’s team.’
