Scope report to be raised in Tynwald

Fundamental questions about the role and size of government in the Isle of Man will be aired in Tynwald next week.

Chief Minister Allan Bell has tabled a motion noting that the Council of Minsters has received two reports on the scope of government and is considering them.

It will be a first opportunity for Tynwald members to air their views in the Island's parliament.

The reports suggest the range of public services provided directly by government should be drastically cut back in the light of reduced budgets.

They recommend a wide of range of services should be contracted out, privatised or corporatised.

Members of the public can also have a say at the next Council of Ministers community meeting at the Centenary Centre in Peel on 26th June.

Mr Bell says ministers are keeping an open mind and welcome feedback from across the board:
