The Manx public has the power to help protect the meat plant for the future by opting for local produce.
In response to a House of Keys question this week Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne said he believed the outlook for the facility was as good now as it had been for a decade.
He acknowledged there were challenges to overcome, one of the most pressing being that Tesco is still not stocking Manx meat.
But Mr Gawne believes the plant is well managed and on the way to securing a sustainable future.
And with the Island spending around 330-million pounds a year on food - choosing manx produce will play a significant role.
